Targeted toward franchisors in the relatively early stages of development (5-75 locations) or to those who are looking to diversify their franchising options to attract more partners, this session will teach attendees to ask the right questions during negotiations.
Experts will discuss: diversifying contract options, when to give more power to franchisees, accountability issues, rights, standards, obligations and procedures.
Chris Cheek joined Newk’s Franchise Company in 2014 as the Chief Development Officer. Cheek started his franchise career as Vice President of Franchising for Bear Rock Café, where he helped grow the brand from 4 units to over 60 in 4 years. He had similar success at fast casual brands including Bruegger’s Bagels and its parent company brands Timothy’s World Coffee, la Madeleine Country French Café Brioche Doree; Freebirds World Burrito, and Toppers Pizza, Inc., where he was the brand’s first Chief Development Officer. Cheek is a graduate of North Carolina State University and currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Larry D. Kruguer joined the company as President of International on June 11, 2015. Prior to joining Wingstop, Larry was at Wendy’s International, where he served as Vice President, International Joint Ventures and Key Markets from October 2014 to June 2015, Vice President, International Business Development and Finance from January 2010 to October 2014 and Vice President, International Marketing from October 2007 to January 2010. Prior to that, he was the President and Managing Partner of Prontowash USA, a global car wash services company, from January 2002 to October 2007. From October 1998 to August 2001, he served as Vice President, Marketing and Strategic Alliances for SportsLine.com, a CBS Sports affiliate. Larry has also held management positions with Alamo-Autonation and American Express. He received an MBA in Business Management from University of Miami School of Business Administration in 1992.
